I am fascinated with the idea that God takes the most unlikely people and uses them for His glory. This has certainly been the case in my own story. I was a teenage drop out, street kid, and hopelessly out of control, and God kindly sort me out, and rescued me from a lifestyle of damage and pain. We sometimes fail to see the value in people that God sees. In fact, we can often be judgmental and critical, particularly of those who are caught up in bad behavior, when in fact they have great value to God. We can be so easily have the attitude of the older brother who was despised his prodigal brother who received the amazing grace of a loving Father. I love those shows about antiques where someone brings in something that looks really ordinary to discover they have something really valuable. This little video here shows a man with a plain blanket who suddenly discovers he has been sitting on a national treasure.

(2Co 4:6-7 NIV)

6 to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. 7 treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. May the Lord continue to open our eyes that we might see the precious value of people and give us the wisdom to help them discover just how special they are to God and us, and to the world to which we are  all called to make a better place. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts.
