The First Time We Hear
by Mike Keating on Wednesday, 24th of September 2014

I am absolutely astounded by how ‘fearfully and wonderfully’ we are all made (Psalm 119:14). We take it for granted that we can see a rainbow, hear a symphony, hold a baby’s hand, feel the warmth of an open fire on a cold night, and eat a wonderful meal and sip on an amazing coffee. It is really difficult to complain about life if can live in the sheer wonder of it.

I think ‘hearing’ is one of the most important gifts that we enjoy. Some people have a disability in this area. Most wives report that their husbands are ‘selectively’ deaf. And many people seem ‘deaf’ to the voice of God.

It is a sheer wonder and joy when we hear for the first time. This is an amazing video of a lady who hears for the very first time as a result of a successful cochlear transplant. It is very moving.

I remember the ‘first’ time I hear God speak to me. It was just a transforming for me as it was for this lady getting back her physical hearing. However, it is much more important that we can ‘spiritually’ listen to God through His Word with the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

It is my prayer that your hearing is good. May deaf ears be opened, in the Name of Jesus.
