Ebola and Chocolate
Over the last few weeks, we have all been concerned about the outbreak of one of the most deadly diseases known to mankind; the haemorrhagic fever known as Ebola. The thought of a highly infectious disease with a very high rate of death is very frightening and this is simply another thing for the world to be in fear.
(Luke 21:25-27 NKJ "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”
We live in a fearful, damage and chaotic world. To matter even more bizarre, one of the chief concerns is that the Ebola outbreak may threaten our supply of chocolate. Politico, an internet political blog and magazine, reported the threat to world supplies of cocoa, the main ingredient of chocolate.
“Ivory Coast, the world’s largest producer of cacao, the raw ingredient in M&M’s, Butterfingers and Snickers Bars, has shut down its borders with Liberia and Guinea, putting a major crimp on the workforce needed to pick the beans that end up in chocolate bars and other treats just as the harvest season begins.”
It seems to me that the world has finally gone mad with fear and has lost all sense of value and what is truly important. Paul warned us that things would get bad towards the end.
NKJ 2 Timothy 3:1. But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.
And from such people turn away!
However, when the world is shaken, the saints are meant to stand solid. When the world is in fear, we are to live by faith. When the world is confused, we have the peace of God. When the darkness comes, then rise for our light is risen. When the world has questions, we have the answer! Jesus is the way the truth and the life (John 14.6).
