Most of us probably know him better as his stage name: Charlie Sheen. He has had a successful career in in film and television and has won multiple awards. But here is a staggering irony. He became the highest paid actor in history for playing a character in the sitcom “Two and a half men”. He was being paid $2million dollars for every half hour episode. But what was the catch. Well, the character he played was that of Charlie Harper who has a fast living, drinking, drug using and highly promiscuous selfish narcissist.
And, eventually, CBC has to sack him for being “a fast living, drinking, drug using and highly promiscuous selfish narcissist. The way of anti-God culture portrays life is that Charlie Sheen had in made. He had the money and lifestyle to consume luxury, people and substances without limits. The world points to this and says “This is the life”.
However, now it has become clear that such a lifestyle is not all that happy. It is sad to think that there might be an underlying bi-polar condition that has been exaggerated because of substance abuse. But now he has a trail of broken marriages, substance abuse, and a shattered reality. Do any of really believe that this is the life?
In the wake of the dismissal from CBS, Sheen had a highly publicized "meltdown" which was broadcast on television and the Internet. He made bizarre statements in television interviews, suggesting that he was a "warlock" with "tiger blood" and "Adonis DNA", and that he was "winning". He also posted videos to YouTube showing himself smoking cigarettes through his nose, and cursing out his former employers. He told one TV interviewer, "I'm tired of pretending I'm not special. I'm tired of pretending I'm not a total bitchin' rock star from Mars."
Jesus told us 26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mat 16:26 NKJ).
Jesus Christ is the way to the true life. He is the only way, the only, truth and the only life. (John 14.6).Fascinating to hear from Charlie’s Dad Martin Sheen ….
"What he was going through at that time, we were powerless to do much. Except to pray for him and lift him up," Martin Sheen
Let’s all pray for Charlie … and the other Charlies in our spheres of influence.
