Thursday, 11th March 2010 @ 10:25Would Jesus like It?
Last week we had our first Friday Encounter night where we had well over a hundred people attend. Among the crowd, there were lost kids and those from our indigenous community. I had to ask the question ... Would this have pleased Jesus?
My conclusion is that church people might not have been thrilled but Jesus would have been estatic. Given his passion for children, given his passion for the lost, given his passion for the vulnerable, He would have been thrilled by the sight of so many 'precious' ones in his house.
The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us that the religious often walk by those in desperate need on the road of life because of perceived issues surrounding contamination and involvement. Jesus points out the better way is compassion and caring and he did all he could to rescue that which was lost.
Bring it on!
