Comment News (Armadale/Gosnells edition).
I'm looking for such help as you may be able to provide. In our area of Perth (Armadale), there are significant gaps in the Transperth service provision. My family has regular travel requirements in one of these gaps. Rather than bellyache at Transperth and lobby the minister, our approach is to set up a community-based self-help organisation.
To meet needs not currently addressed by Transperth we're aiming to establish a community-based organisation to help members arrange car- and van-pools, and group hire of drivers with vehicles. In some parts of the world, these are called "Commuter Clubs" - but we're looking to cover wider needs than regular commuting.
There is an email address to which anyone can register their interest. travelclub@live.com.au Name, email address, phone contacts, street location and a rough outline of travel needs would help in the first instance. We'd encourage email contact.
We have sent an approach to the WA Gov't TravelSmart team to see if they can help the organisational process in any way. Kind regards Commuter and Travel Club of WA
